Carpenter Ants

Habitat - Moist, decaying wood such as porch pillars, rooflines, window sills, dead trees, stumps, and any wood in contact with soil.
Summary
Carpenter ants don’t eat wood, but they do chew through it to build their nests. Over time, this can compromise the structure of your home. They leave behind piles of fine sawdust near entry points and can move from rotting wood into solid framing if left untreated.
Odorous House Ants
Colour - Brown to black
Size - 1/16" to 1/8'

Habitat - Wall voids, under floors, and exposed soil near homes.
Summary
These small ants give off a strong, rotten coconut-like smell when crushed. They’re attracted to moisture and sweet foods and often invade kitchens. While they don’t pose health risks, they can contaminate food and are difficult to get rid of without proper treatment.

Habitat - Under sidewalks, driveways, concrete slabs, and building foundations.
Summary
Pavement ants often nest under concrete and can enter buildings through small cracks. They’re known to forage for a wide variety of food, including sweets and grease. Though not structurally harmful, they can quickly become a persistent nuisance indoors.
